Clearway and Microsoft sign agreement to generate 335 MW of clean energy from Virginia

Clearway Energy Group announced a new step in its commitment to the energy transition. energy transition by entering into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Microsoft. This agreement will advance the development of the 335 megawatt (MW) Mount Storm wind farm located in Grant County, West Virginia.

This project represents a breakthrough for the generation of clean energy clean energy and aligns with Microsoft’s ambitious decarbonization goals to achieve net-zero operations across its entire value chain. Mount Storm will be a carbon-free source of electricity that will directly contribute to that goal.

According to Valerie Wooley, Clearway’s senior vice president of origination, the collaboration with Microsoft reinforces the company’s commitment to promoting sustainable sourcing and supporting regional economic growth.

Clean energy from Virginia

The wind farm will be built using equipment manufactured in the United States, which strengthens the domestic industry and guarantees quality standards. In addition, the project will generate significant economic benefits: hundreds of jobs are expected during the construction phase, as well as millions of dollars in tax contributions and funding for social programs in the region.

Clearway’s commitment to Mount Storm adds to a growing portfolio of energy assets that currently exceeds 11.8 GW spread across 26 states, with more than 9 GW coming from renewable sources such as wind, solar and storage.
