In addition, Chevron New Energies emphasizes that “the actual commencement of commercial operations will be conditioned by a supportive legislative and regulatory environment, final engineering design, acquisition of relevant permits, and availability of essential materials.”

Favorable laws due to growing demand for hydrogen

On the other hand, Austin Knight, Vice President of Hydrogen at Chevron New Energies, has pointed out the importance of energy policies at both the state and federal level for the success of this energy initiative.

Knight stressed that these policies will be crucial to meet the growing demand for hydrogen and to facilitate the development of commercial-scale hydrogen fueling infrastructures, thereby promoting wider adoption of low-carbon energy solutions.

Accordingly, Knight also emphasized the company’s already established offering of sustainable fuels, such as renewable diesel and low-carbon sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), noting that the hydrogen project will significantly complement and expand this portfolio.

Strategic location of the project
