At IAA Mobility 2025, battery technology specialist CATL presented its new development: Shenxing Pro. This LFP battery represents a key breakthrough for the European market, combining safety, performance and efficiency in a single energy storage system.

Shenxing Pro Battery

One of the pillars of Shenxing Pro is its No Propagation 3.0 (NP 3.0) technology, developed over seven years by CATL. This innovation allows the battery to maintain high-voltage supply even after thermal runaway, preventing fires and smoke. This capability is crucial in a Level 3 and 4 autonomous driving context, where the battery must ensure system continuity in critical situations.

Shenxing Pro comes in two variants optimized for the European market. The long-life version offers up to 758 km WLTP range and a service life of 1 million kilometers or 12 years. This makes it an ideal choice for leasing fleets and intensive use. On the other hand, the ultra-fast charging version allows 478 km of range to be recovered in just 10 minutes, even with 20% charge remaining. It also offers stable performance at -20 °C and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.

Both variants share the use of Wave cells with a high shoulder design and a structure that improves rigidity by 25%, facilitating vibration dissipation and increasing system durability. Thanks to its optimized Cell-to-Body architecture, the battery achieves 76% volumetric efficiency, maximizing usable space without compromising structural integrity. In addition, its multidirectional cooling and mounting design allows for greater adaptability to European vehicle platforms.

The Shenxing Pro battery was conceived to respond to the specific challenges of the electric mobility ecosystem in Europe: limited charging infrastructure, variable climatic conditions and high safety expectations. With its combination of extended range, thermal reliability and fast charging capability, it offers a comprehensive solution for electric vehicle manufacturers and users on the continent.

CATL has invested more than 11 billion euros in its European expansion, with production sites, partnerships with universities and agreements with more than 200 manufacturers and 1,000 suppliers. Shenxing Pro is not only a technological innovation, but also a product anchored in a sound regional strategy. “Our mission is to offer safe and reliable electric mobility aligned with the needs of the European market,” said Tan Libin, senior vice president of CATL. The company has already equipped more than 20 million vehicles worldwide, and Shenxing Pro represents its commitment to a cleaner, smarter and connected energy future.
