Alef Aeronautics, the California-based electric transportation company, is moving towards the commercialization of its flying car, the Model A. The company signed an agreement with PUCARA Aero and MYC, experts in the manufacture of high-quality aeronautical components, to produce the vehicle’s certifiable parts.

Alef’s flying car, which is 100% electric, will be able to operate on roads and also perform vertical takeoffs and landings.

Design, development and features of the Alef Model A

Alef Aeronautics has been developing its flying car since 2015, conducting test drives and flight tests of a full-size prototype since 2019. This long research and development process reinforces confidence in the product. The Model A has been designed to ensure a safe and comfortable flight experience, thanks to advanced technologies such as distributed electric propulsion (DEP), triple redundancy in key components and a ballistic parachute system for emergencies. In addition, it has no exposed propellers, making it safer and quieter.

The Model A offers a range of 200 miles on the road and up to 110 miles in flight, allowing for a unique combination of ground and air mobility. Its stabilized cabin design with an elevator system allows for a smooth and stable flight, keeping passengers comfortable throughout the journey.

Likewise, the vertical take-off and landing capability facilitates its integration into the urban environment, using existing infrastructures such as parking spaces and common streets.

Strategic agreement with PUCARA Aero and MYC

PUCARA Aero and MYC, two companies based in Spain, will contribute their experience in the manufacture of certified parts for civil aviation, working on aircraft of recognized brands such as Boeing y Airbus. The parts they will manufacture will be certifiable by the FAA, EASA and other international authorities, ensuring that the flying car meets the highest quality and safety standards.

With an expected price of $299,999 and a growing number of pre-orders through its pre-orders through its website website in excess of 3,000 units, the company is preparing to begin production of the Model A in 2025, marking a new era for urban air mobility.

Model Z: Alef’s next flying car

In addition to the Model A, Alef is already working on its next innovation: the Model Z. This four-passenger sedan, due in 2035, will offer a 200-mile flight range and a 400-mile highway range. Most notable is its price, which will be much more affordable, estimated at $35,000, opening the market to a wider audience.
