Danish offshore solutions provider Cadeler has signed a firm contract with Taiwan’s Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) to transport and install 35 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines at the Formosa 4.5 MW offshore wind farm . Formosa 4. This new agreement strengthens Cadeler’s involvement in the development of renewable energy in Asia, particularly in Taiwan’s growing offshore market.

Turbine installation and technical deployment of the project

Operations are scheduled to begin in March 2028 and will run for approximately 150 days. The project will utilize one of Cadeler’s new generation M-class installation vessels, specifically designed to operate in demanding offshore conditions and handle large capacity turbines.

The Formosa 4 farm will be located between 18 and 20 kilometers off the coast of Miaoli County, in water depths of up to 64 meters. With a total generation capacity of 495 MW, this park will make a significant contribution to the country’s clean energy matrix. This park will make a significant contribution to the country’s clean energy matrix.

Financial and strategic perspectives

The signed contract is estimated to generate revenues for Cadeler in the range of 70 to 80 million euros. This signing represents a part of the preliminary agreement announced by the company in September 2024, which included two wind projects in the region.

According to Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler, this contract symbolizes a strategic step to strengthen its operation in Asia. The company already has an office in Taipei and currently has two vessels executing similar projects in the area.

Regional impetus for energy transition

This breakthrough reinforces Taiwan’s role as a hub for offshore wind energy development in the Asia-Pacific region. With the deployment of state-of-the-art turbines turbines and the support of specialized logistics infrastructure, Formosa 4 is projected as a key initiative to accelerate the country’s energy transition.

For its part, SRE strengthens its position as a regional developer by partnering with a global operator such as Cadeler, ensuring technical and logistical progress for the efficient execution of the project.
