YM Together vessel achieves biofuel supply

KPI OceanConnect collaborates with, YM Together loaded biofuel B30 HSFO at Pusan Port on June 26. This biofuel, which includes used cooking oil from native plants, meets international sustainability and carbon standards. The use of biofuel reduces GHG emissions by up to 25% compared to marine fuels, supported by technologies such as scrubbers and onboard shore power systems(AMP).

The port of Pusan as a sourcing point in Asia increases Yang Ming’s operational flexibility, enabling more sustainable fuel options for various routes. In addition, Yang Ming is sharing data with a research institute in South Korea to advance academic research and accelerate the energy transition in the maritime industry.

Yang Ming implements energy saving measures, such as vessel modernization, smart technology for energy control, and optimized routes through weather routing systems. In 2023, Yang Ming’s fleet reduced carbon intensity by 61.86% compared to 2008, exceeding IMO targets ahead of schedule.
