The initiative aligns with India’s goal of becoming one of the top five maritime powers by 2047. To this end, it plans to increase the country’s port handling capacity to 10 billion tons annually, while decreasing dependence on imported technology, especially from countries such as China.

The cranes that emerge from this collaboration will stand out for their energy efficiency, capacity for automation and adaptability to port expansion projects. Manufacturing will be performed at BEML’s industrial facilities, taking advantage of its heavy engineering expertise, while KSOE and HSHI will provide world-class expertise in shipbuilding and automated loading systems.

Technological sovereignty and employment generation

The signing of the agreement took place at BEML’s headquarters in Bangalore.
