BASF and Plug Power have signed a Cooperation Agreement that seeks to strengthen the efficiency of hydrogen liquefaction plants. This partnership places BASF’s DeOxo catalysts as essential components in the purification systems that Plug Power implements on a global scale.
The alliance between BASF and Plug Power
One of the important elements of the project is the Purivate Pd15 catalyst, designed to operate efficiently at low temperatures. In addition, it achieves a reduction in the use of high-cost precious metals and improves technical feasibility as well as plant cost.
The collaboration also includes the use of Sorbead Air aluminosilicate gel, a specialized adsorbent for the dehydration of hydrogen produced by electrolysis. This results in energy efficiency that contributes to the sustainability of the processes.
The alliance is focused on liquefaction plants with capacities of 30, 60 and 90 tons per day (TPD). BASF has passed a demanding technical validation process, backed by multiple operational references.
From Plug Powerhighlights BASF ‘s expertise in purification processes and its contribution to offering robust solutions that enhance the reliability of liquid hydrogen as an energy alternative.
