BASF and Equinor sign gas supply agreement for a decade

Deliveries will begin on October 1, 2025 and will be made on market terms.

Equinor and BASF have signed a ten-year natural gas supply agreement that provides for the annual supply of up to 23 TWh, equivalent to about 2 billion cubic meters.

A 10-year gas supply agreement

This contract secures a substantial part of BASF’ s natural gas consumption in Europe and represents a concrete step forward in the company’s strategy to diversify its energy and raw materials matrix. For its part, Equinor, as a Norwegian supplier, offers a gas source with one of the lowest carbon footprints in the market.

The gas supplied will be used both as a raw material for the manufacture of chemical chemical manufacturing and to power BASF’s industrial operations. and to power BASF’s industrial operations. This includes sectors such as fertilizers, plastics and critical intermediates for consumer goods.

Headquartered in Norway and with a presence in more than 20 countries, Equinor is consolidating its role as a partner for the responsible long-term supply of natural gas. This partnership with BASF aligns with its strategy to lead in the supply of low-emission energy for Europe.

Norway’s Equinor has been a regular supplier to BASF for several years, both in gases and liquids. This new agreement extends that relationship into a more strategic model, focusing on reliability of supply and shared environmental commitment.
