ARO Drilling obtains contract extensions for 5 jack-up rigs with Saudi Aramco

The five platforms included in the contract extension are specialized shallow water units.

Aiming to strengthen its position as a key operator in the offshore sector offshore sector Saudi Arabia, ARO Drilling has signed a five-year strategic agreement with the state-owned oil company Saudi Aramco. This agreement covers the renewal of operations of five jack-up rigs which form an essential part of the fleet operated by the company in the Arabian Sea.

Contract for the extension of 5 self-elevating platforms

The contract, considered a fundamental step by ARO Drilling, aims to maintain the continuity of operations of the Bob Palmer 50, Rowan Mississippi, Rowan EXL-IV 83, Ensco 140 and Ensco 141 units, all of which are high specification jack-up rigs designed for shallow water drilling operations. These extensions will allow ARO Drilling to continue to contribute to the development of the offshore oil industry and support the economic initiatives driven by the Kingdom.

Since its inception, ARO Drilling has adopted an operational approach based on safe, efficient and sustainable performance. This agreement with Aramco underscores that philosophy, committed to maintaining high standards of execution, environmental safety and support for the Saudi labor market, aligning with the country’s localization and energy sovereignty goals.

Future outlook for the Saudi offshore industry

The extension of these contracts is in addition to other initiatives that ARO Drilling is developing together with its partner International Maritime Industries (IMI), with whom it is making progress in the construction of locally manufactured platforms. An example of this is the Kingdom 3 projectproject, the first jack-up built within the Kingdom, marking a breakthrough in Saudi Arabia’s offshore industrial autonomy.

These actions, integrated with collaborations with players such as Seatrium for the supply of specialized technology, reinforce ARO Drilling’s role in the regional offshore ecosystem, anticipating new opportunities for the fabrication and operation of up to 20 jack-up units in Saudi territory in the coming years.
