According to information released by The Telegraph newspaper, the American company Apple plans to start manufacturing its line of iPhone 14 smartphones in India.
The move will reduce the gap from six to nine months typical of previous launches, international television channel Bloomberg News reported.
The design and production company for electronic equipment, software and online services is working with suppliers to increase its production in India and the first iPhone 14s in the country are likely to be finished by the end of October or November, after the initial launch of September.
Taiwan-based Apple supplier Foxconn is studying the process of shipping items from China and assembling the iPhone 14 at its plant outside the southern city of Chennai.
Apple is exploring various options after clashes between China and the United States and lockdowns across the country disrupted production.
Apple is moving some areas of production of the iPhone and iPad tablets from China to other markets, including India, the world’s second-biggest smartphone market.
