Amaroq identifies critical high grade ores at Black Angel mine

Estimated concentrations in future zinc concentrates would reach up to 3040 ppm cadmium, 102 ppm germanium and 48.5 ppm gallium.
Minerales críticos en la mina Black Angel

Recent analyses have confirmed the presence of critical minerals such as germanium, gallium and cadmium in commercial concentrations within the Black Angel deposit, located in Central West Greenland. This discovery reinforces the strategic potential of the mining project operated by Amaroq, adding to the already known high grades of zinc, lead and silver.

Confirmation of critical minerals in bulk samples

The new tests on bulk samples bulk samples from the deposit taken from the deposit indicate average values of 24.6% zinc, 28.1% lead and 295 g/t silver. Along with these, commercial levels of germanium (44 ppm), gallium (21 ppm) and cadmium (1328 ppm) are reported. These elements, considered critical by the European Union and the United States, are essential for sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence and renewable energies.

Amaroq expects to achieve estimated concentrations of 102 ppm germanium, 48.5 ppm gallium and 3040 ppm cadmium in future zinc concentrates, according to its preliminary mass balance projections.

Black Angel as the hub of the West Greenland Center.

With the confirmation of these results, the Black Angel mine is positioned as the operating core of the so-called West Greenland Hub, which will also include the neighboring Kangerluarsuk project. Amaroq has completed all contractual obligations relating to the Black Angel acquisition, and expects to obtain final licenses for Kangerluarsuk in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Both projects will diversify Amaroq’s exposure to base metals and strategic minerals. strategic mineralsThe two projects will build on existing infrastructure such as a deepwater port, camps and a gondola lift system.

A strategy based on reactivable assets

The company plans to replicate at Black Angel the approach used at Nalunaq, its gold mine in southern Greenland, focused on reactivating assets with a history of production. Black Angel currently has estimated resources of 3.2 Mt at 8.8% Zn and 3.0% Pb (indicated), plus 0.5 Mt at 4.73% Zn and 2.2% Pb (inferred).

Initial work is expected to focus on the deep zone of the glacier, where historical records reveal intersections of up to 13.1% zinc and 19.5% lead over 6.9 meters. In addition, geophysical geophysical surveys are planned for the 2026 field season.

A strategic position on the world mining map

Eldur Olafsson, CEO of Amaroq, noted that the discovery of germanium and gallium in a mine with operational infrastructure positions the project as a reliable alternative source in the face of the concentration of global supply in China. The goal is to establish the West Greenland Center as a new mining district supporting both production and logistics services through its subsidiary Suliaq.

Amaroq’s strategy seeks to accelerate Greenland’s mineral development by strengthening its presence in regions with high mineralogical potential and securing critical resources for the western market.
