In addition, it has set a target to reduce Scope 3 emissions, those associated with its customers and the value chain, by 28%. These targets have been reviewed and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming their alignment with the latest climate science.

Sustainability as part of the business

Sustainability is not an isolated element in Alleima’s operations, but a transversal axis that impacts both its production chain and its value proposition. Reducing its carbon footprint also represents a competitive advantage that translates into direct benefits for its customers.

We lead the industry in sustainability, both in terms of our product offering and our climate footprint. A reduced carbon footprint is part of our premium offering to our customers.

Technical solutions in place

These advances are due to the fact that the company has replaced liquefied petroleum gas with biogas. biogas in several production centers and is investing in the electrification of energy-intensive processes.

One of the most noteworthy initiatives has been the collaboration with the Kanthal division, an expert in industrial electric heating. Together, they have electrified key processes such as the heating of mold tubes in continuous casting.

Acknowledgments that support the effort

In addition to the validation by SBTi, Alleima has recently received a gold medal from EcoVadis, a recognition that places it among the top 5% of the world’s most sustainable companies, according to this organization, which has evaluated more than 150,000 global companies.

We have come a long way toward achieving our goals. Ninety-seven percent of the electricity we consume worldwide no longer uses fossil fuels. We have invested significantly in energy efficiency and have replaced LPG with biogas at several locations in our operations. This demonstrates that we take responsibility, meet our ambitious targets and are committed to reducing our emissions.

Håkan Sundström, Director of Sustainability at Alleima.
