French company Akrocean has announced that its WINDSEA floating LiDAR system has been officially recognized in Stage 3 of the Carbon Trust’s technical development framework, confirming the technological maturity of its solution for assessing offshore wind resources.
Technical validation of the WINDSEA floating LiDAR system
The certification has been endorsed by the Netherlands-based technology organization TNO , following an initial assessment by Danish consultancy C2Wind . This independent verification ensures that WINDSEA meets the requirements for adoption in bankable offshore wind energy projects.
For the company, this validation represents a major step in its position as a reliable technology provider for remote wind measurement. Furthermore, the company emphasizes that its solutions contribute to reducing uncertainty in wind resource assessments.
Since 2019, WINDSEA has been under technical review, achieving Stage 2 validation. With this new recognition, the system reaches the highest level in the Carbon Trust ‘s roadmap, a benchmark for the development and adoption of LiDAR technologies in marine environments.
