Airbus Helicopters has announced a major advancement for its Airbus H130 helicopter , incorporating a state-of-the-art autopilot system designed to improve the safety and efficiency of air operations . This technological development promises to transform the flying experience for pilots and operators.
The Airbus H130 will offer safer flights
The new autopilot system , developed in collaboration with Garmin, stands out for its three-axis stabilization capacity and comprehensive assistance in all phases of flight . From delicate maneuvers such as takeoff and landing to hovering, this system ensures greater precision and operational stability.
It also includes advanced features such as visual and audible alerts, a “LEVEL” button to return to a stable flight position and measures to prevent dangerous manoeuvres. According to Jerome Ronssin, Director of the Light Helicopter Programme at Airbus Helicopters, this technology significantly increases the safety and efficiency of air missions .
Tested by industry experts
Pilots who have evaluated the system have praised its ability to reduce cockpit workload and increase safety in adverse weather conditions. Marc Prunel, test pilot at Airbus Helicopters, said the system enables complex manoeuvres to be performed with greater confidence and stability , even during night flights.
With a focus on versatility, the system deployed on the Airbus H130 is designed for diverse missions including private transport, medical emergencies and commercial operations. Certification of this system is expected to be ready by the first half of 2025 , with first deliveries planned before the end of next year.
This development underlines the company’s commitment to technological innovation and safety in the aeronautical sector , consolidating its leadership in the helicopter market.
