Petronas confirmed that today, April 1, 2025, a fire at PETRONAS Gas Bhd.’s main pipeline in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, caused an explosion that left several people hospitalized. The incident, which occurred at 8:10 a.m., prompted a major mobilization of emergency teams and local authorities to control the fire and manage the evacuation of the surrounding areas.

In the statement, the company reports that the nearby gas stations (Putra Heights Station, KM2 LDP Station, and Putra Bestari Station) were not directly affected, although they were temporarily closed as a precautionary measure. Following thorough safety assessments, the stations have resumed operations with authorization from the relevant authorities.

Petronas extends its support to those affected

Petronas has expressed its deepest condolences to the individuals and families affected by the explosion in Putra Heights and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring people’s safety, providing support to those affected, and ensuring the continuity of gas supply while the cause of the incident is investigated.

It is important to note that Petronas Gas Berhad (PGB), the subsidiary that owns the affected pipeline , is working closely with government authorities to assess the full impact of the incident. Furthermore, the company has activated contingency plans to mitigate supply disruptions and restore operations safely and efficiently.

The Malaysian Prime Minister also visited the scene of the incident and highlighted the active coordination between Petronas, relevant ministries, and state and federal agencies to provide necessary assistance to the victims.
