The“Offshore Oil 301” vessel has a length of 184.7 meters and a beam of 28.1 meters, and is mainly used to transfer resources between domestic coastal LNG receiving stations. It was upgraded in November 2022 to include bunkering function, the vessel has become a key player in “ship-to-ship” loading and refueling operations at Chinese coastal ports.
Recently, the vessel completed a refueling operation for an international sailing vessel in Shenzhen, facing difficult conditions caused by Typhoon Capricorn.“At present, the vessel has provided more than 10 bunkering services for large international sailing ships, helping to improve the international competitiveness of China’s ports,” commented a CNOOC representative.
The use of LNG is important for reducing carbon emissions due to its cleanliness and ease of storage and transportation. The company CNOOC has been a pioneer in the domestic LNG industry and has been active in building the entire value chain to promote green energy and sustainable development. The Offshore Oil 301 vessel is an example of this initiative, because it enables simultaneous loading and bunkering operations for large container and bulk carriers.
The company has led projects under the“Green Energy Port” and“Green Energy Ying” programs, which play a key role in guaranteeing energy supply during summer and winter peak demand.
