Boosting offshore Nam Du U Minh gas development in Vietnam

The approval of the Field Development Plan allows the company to move forward with the commercialization of these discoveries located off the country’s southwest coast. Additionally, the company will be able to register initial reserves estimated at 32 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe), a significant indicator of the asset’s value.

Furthermore, the project includes the creation of a new offshore gas production hub, strengthening Vietnam’s energy infrastructure. This development aligns with the national strategy of prioritizing domestic resources to ensure energy supply.

Economic impact and industrial opportunities

Moreover, the project’s progress opens the door to key contracts for local companies, particularly in infrastructure development. The initiative is expected to generate significant revenue for the State throughout its lifespan.

Similarly, the bidding process for the main components is already at an advanced stage, anticipating a rapid move toward project execution.

Jadestone strengthens its presence in Vietnam

In parallel, Jadestone Energy announced the appointment of Phil Cunningham as Country Manager in Vietnam. The executive has over 30 years of experience in exploration and production, including roles at TotalEnergies and previous operations in Southeast Asia.

Likewise, his appointment addresses the need to strengthen local management during a key development stage, where technical and operational coordination will be decisive.

A project aligned with energy security

The development of Nam Du and U Minh is part of Vietnam’s strategic plan to drive economic growth and reduce dependence on energy imports. Additionally, further potential within the current licenses suggests new opportunities for future expansion.

In this context, Jadestone is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s gas supply, with long-term prospects in the regional market.
