The agreement between Southern Energy Renewables and Axens is a strategic alliance that seeks to transform regional wood waste into high-value energy resources, specifically green methanol and renewable jet fuel. The primary focus is on a conversion plant in Louisiana, where technological integration will enable the achievement of negative carbon emission levels.
A Strategic Alliance for Aviation Fuel Production
Axens’ participation as a technology licensor is fundamental to the project’s success. The organization provides a set of solutions ranging from biomass treatment to carbon dioxide capture.
Through this memorandum of understanding, Southern assumes leadership in operational and permitting management, while Axens’ technology ensures the technical viability of synthetic fuels. Operations will initially focus on the state of Louisiana, with subsequent evaluation for expansion into other geographical markets.
The proposal to use an experimental digital token called $SAF will function as a data layer designed to transparently monitor the performance and production of the facilities.
The intention is to link operational data with the issuance of these digital assets to improve the visibility of the industrial process. Likewise, this system seeks to optimize supply chain management without altering the sales or accounting methods of the biofuels produced.
Finally, the vision of the executives points towards a solution that can compete directly in the global market. The goal is to offer synthetic fuel at competitive reference prices, reducing the need to depend on external subsidies.
This strategy relies on the use of low-cost biomass and internationally proven technological infrastructure. The spirit of collaboration between both entities allows for the elimination of technical risks and the conversion of commercial innovation into a solid industrial infrastructure for the future of air transport.
