As part of the expansion of European electrical infrastructure, Subsea Cable Assets (SCA) has been awarded a framework contract by German operator 50Hertz Transmission GmbH for the supply of four cable storage carousels.

The agreement includes the comprehensive design of cable handling systems, covering engineering, manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the equipment. Additionally, the scope incorporates all associated loading systems, adapted to demanding operational and quality standards.

Cable Carousels in European Power Transmission Projects

Currently, 50Hertz plays a strategic role in the development of Europe’s transmission grid, especially in the integration of renewable energies. This context drives the need for reliable solutions for storing and handling high-capacity cables.

In this regard, storage carousels optimize the logistics and deployment of subsea and terrestrial cables, facilitating more efficient operations in energy infrastructure projects.

Awarded through competitive tender

Moreover, the contract was secured through a European tender process, reinforcing SCA’s position as a specialized supplier of cable handling systems.

The company has demonstrated its technical capability in previous projects, consolidating its expertise in integrated solutions for the offshore and power transmission sectors.

Confidence in large-scale solutions

From the company’s management, Sil de Rijke, Managing Director of SCA, highlighted that this agreement reflects the market’s confidence in their ability to develop large-scale cable handling systems.

Finally, both companies anticipate close collaboration to ensure the correct execution of the contract, in an environment where equipment reliability is critical for the growth of energy networks.
