The Brazilian company PRIO announced the start of operations for the third producing well in the Wahoo field, located in the Campos Basin, consolidating a new step forward in its offshore expansion strategy.
According to the official statement, the well reached a stabilized production of 10,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), reinforcing the operational performance of the field and its contribution to the company’s portfolio.
Currently, PRIO maintains controlled management of the flow rate from the wells, limiting the total production of the field to 32,000 barrels per day with three active wells. This decision is part of a strategy aimed at optimizing reservoir behavior and ensuring extraction efficiency.
Furthermore, the company expects a fourth well to begin operations toward the end of April. With this addition, production from the Wahoo field could reach a limit of 40,000 barrels per day, marking a new stage in the asset’s development.
Wahoo Field Development
The Wahoo field is part of a subsea tie-back project connected to the FPSO Valente floating production unit, a key infrastructure for the processing and storage of extracted crude oil.
This development model allows PRIO to maximize the use of existing assets, reduce operating costs, and accelerate the production startup of new wells in Brazilian waters.
PRIO, considered the largest independent oil and gas company in Brazil, remains focused on increasing its production through asset acquisition, field redevelopment, and operational efficiency improvements.
