The recent integration of the R/V Mintis into Mark Offshore‘s fleet represents a strategic move to meet the growing demand for services in the clean energy sector. Through an agreement with Klaipėda University, the company assumes commercial and operational management of this vessel specialized in subsea support.

R/V Mintis Catamaran Technology for Shallow Waters

The structure of this research vessel stands out as a 40-meter catamaran equipped with DP1 dynamic positioning technology. This configuration enables superior stability in complex environments such as the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

Likewise, its shallow-draft design facilitates missions in coastal or nearshore areas, where larger vessels encounter logistical limitations. The unit features a central moonpool and a 14-ton A-frame for deploying heavy equipment.

The current market demands platforms that bridge the gap between traditional survey vessels and large support units. The R/V Mintis meets this expectation by integrating advanced laboratories that can be converted into control centers for remotely operated vehicles.

Likewise, the accommodation capacity for 17 people and Starlink connectivity ensure that environmental monitoring campaigns and geophysical surveys are executed with remarkable cost efficiency.

For the company’s founder, Mark van der Star, integrating this unit is a fundamental step in the evolution toward a business model based on owned assets. The vessel’s operational experience in the Mediterranean and Northeast Atlantic supports its reliability for offshore wind infrastructure projects.
