Glamox has signed a contract with SHE CO., LTD, representing Hyundai Engineering & Steel Industries (HESI), to supply LED marine luminaires to the Shinan Ui offshore wind farm. With a projected capacity of 390 MW, it will be South Korea’s largest offshore wind farm, exceeding the combined capacity of all offshore wind farms currently operating in the country.

A system designed to withstand extreme conditions

The contract includes around 1,000 LED marine luminaires specifically designed to withstand harsh offshore conditions, which will be installed on the transition pieces of 26 fixed-bottom turbines, where the turbines connect to their foundations. These structures include platforms, vessel access systems, and ladders, so they must be perfectly lit to ensure the safety of technical personnel during inspections and maintenance.

The equipment will include MIR G2 linear luminaires, with an unpainted stainless-steel housing that acts as a Faraday cage to protect internal components from electrical storms. In addition, RLX C floodlights will be installed on the turbine platforms.

Proven reliability in the marine environment

According to Stranden, Glamox’s LED marine luminaires were selected for their performance, durability, and reliability, with a service life of 100,000 hours and resistance to extreme temperatures between -40°C and 50°C—conditions typical of the South Korean marine environment.

Delivery of the lighting systems is scheduled for spring 2026.

Glamox strengthens its presence in Asia

This contract strengthens Glamox’s presence in South Korea, where it had already participated in 2024 in the Jeonnam Phase 1 wind farm, off the west coast of Shinan, supplying lighting for 10 transition pieces. The Oslo-based company is committed to sustainability and carbon neutrality by 2030, consolidating its position as a key player in the Asian offshore wind sector.
