The fires reported at the Borouge petrochemical plant in Abu Dhabi forced the suspension of operations while damages are assessed following the interception of an aerial threat.

Fires at Abu Dhabi Petrochemical Plant

Abu Dhabi authorities responded to multiple fires at the Borouge petrochemical plant, caused by debris after missiles were intercepted by air defense systems.

According to official information, the threat was detected in the morning hours and successfully neutralized. However, projectile remnants impacted areas of the industrial complex, causing fires in different parts of the facility.

Operations suspended at the industrial complex

As a preventive measure, plant operations were immediately halted while technical teams assess the extent of infrastructure damage.

Authorities also confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far, allowing efforts to focus on containing the fires and inspecting the affected areas.

Regional context and risks to energy infrastructure

The incident occurs within a context of regional tensions, marked by missile and drone attacks targeting energy infrastructure in the Gulf.

In this scenario, key facilities such as petrochemical plants and processing complexes have become sensitive points, especially in the face of events resulting from aerial interceptions that cause collateral damage.

Call for official information

Furthermore, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) urged the public to stay informed only through official channels.

Authorities also recommended avoiding the spread of rumors or unverified information, while monitoring and control efforts continue.
