DeepOcean has signed a charter agreement with Boskalis to incorporate the Boka Spearfish subsea vessel into its fleet, which will operate under the name Sea1 Spearfish for the remainder of 2026, with an option for extension.

Thus, the Norwegian company strengthens its operational capacity in the offshore segment, in line with the growing demand for subsea services in sectors such as oil and gas and marine renewable energy.

A proven vessel for subsea operations

The Sea1 Spearfish is not an unfamiliar asset to DeepOcean. The vessel had previously been used by the company under similar agreements, demonstrating consistent performance in subsea operations.

Furthermore, this operational history reduces adaptation times and allows for more agile integration within the existing fleet.

Boskalis’s subsea vessel stands out for its technical capabilities

After a brief mobilization period, the vessel will be equipped with two professional-class ROVs, essential for inspection, maintenance, and installation work in subsea environments.

Its main features include:

  • Offshore crane with 250-ton capacity
  • 1,350 m² deck for logistical operations
  • Hangar for two remotely operated vehicles
  • SCR system for emission reduction
  • Accommodation for up to 110 people

These specifications position the vessel as a versatile platform for complex deepwater operations.

Growth strategy and operational efficiency

Moreover, the incorporation of the Sea1 Spearfish aligns with DeepOcean’s strategy to offer comprehensive solutions in the ocean space, ranging from engineering to maintenance and recycling of offshore infrastructure.

Likewise, the company continues to commit to more sustainable operations, integrating technologies that contribute to emission reduction and cost optimization.

With this move, DeepOcean strengthens its presence in the subsea market and consolidates its capacity to execute highly complex offshore projects.
