The recent confirmation of Axens as the technology licensor for the America First Refining refinery in Brownsville marks a turning point. This facility will be the first large-scale plant built in the United States in five decades. The choice of this technical provider addresses a need for operational efficiency in managing domestic resources.

The company will provide advanced systems for naphtha and diesel hydrotreating. These processes ensure that shale oil is transformed into high-value commercial refined products such as gasoline and jet fuel. The plant will process 100% U.S. light crude and will reduce operational energy costs through state-of-the-art designs.

Furthermore, the strategic location in a deep-water port facilitates access to international markets and strengthens domestic logistics. The goal is to reach a production of 60 million barrels of clean fuels annually.

This technical alliance initiated in 2017 finally materializes to provide Texas with a modern refining infrastructure capable of responding to current demands for sustainability and performance.

The integration of isomerization processes and continuous catalytic reforming guarantees a solid platform for AFR. Axens’ involvement ranges from engineering to the supply of catalysts and critical equipment. This business decision reinforces confidence in technologies that optimize long-term performance in an increasingly competitive global environment.
