With more than two decades in operation, the offshore support vessel OSV Genesis, operated by ACSM, is currently undergoing a full modernization phase at the Portuguese shipyard in Viana do Castelo. This work is part of a strategy aimed at optimizing its responsiveness for increasingly demanding operations in subsea environments.

One of the most significant upgrades has been the installation of an active heave compensation (AHC) crane developed by Heila Cranes, specifically designed to compensate for sea motion during lifting operations, enabling more stable operations.

A vessel built for the challenges of the offshore sector

The OSV Genesis, built in 2003, already had a strong operational track record. Now, with this technological upgrade, it is better prepared for installation and repair tasks involving critical subsea infrastructure in sectors such as oil, gas, and renewables.

Meanwhile, ACSM, a company specializing in maritime solutions and now part of the Prysmian Group, continues to invest in strengthening its fleet. The modernization is a key step in ACSM’s roadmap to maintain a versatile, modern fleet aligned with the growing needs of the energy and subsea cabling industry.
