From March 19 to 23, the AMPP 2023 annual conference was held, it is the second formally after the merger of NACE and SSPC. On this occasion, Denver, Colorado, was the venue at the Convention Center of that city and was attended by almost 6,000 attendees, a number that constitutes a record for this type of event and, at the same time, also in the same way the agenda presented and the number of papers exceeded those of last year.
The exhibition hall of the companies dedicated to the area of coatings, paints, materials and technology to prevent and mitigate corrosion were more than 100 stands that showed the technological advances and improvements of their products.
The AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2023 encouraged the participation of students from different international universities, whose work focused on studies on corrosion in general. Therefore, the EMERGing Leaders Bash event was held, in order to reward the effort and ingenuity of the students for their valuable research and to continue multiplying the effort in upcoming events for future granting of scholarships to young university students. Additionally, the Honoree Night event was held, which recognized the trajectory and excellent performance of the AMPP leaders whose trajectory highlights the quality and ethics of the work of these veterans in the prevention and control of corrosion.
AMPP Award 2023: Academic Scholarship
Through Inspenet TV, more than 40 interviews were conducted during the development of this event, among the most important are: The Board of the AMPP, Directors of important companies participating in the conference, speakers, students and promoters of recognized firms in the market.
Among the interviews, those of Bob Chalker and Alan Thomas, outgoing and incoming president, respectively, of the AMPP, Amir Eliezer Chair AMPP Board of Directors, Elaine Bowman, among others, who exclusively gave their statements and expectations of the organization in this new management.
The board of directors of the Board Global Center, made up of Latin Americans from the AMPP, also had their space in our program segments. José Sirera (Brazil), Laura Cárdenas (Venezuela), Juan Caballero (Panama), Guillermo Loayza (Ecuador), Mauricio Herrera (Colombia), Norberto Pesce (Argentina), Rosileia Mantovani (Brazil), Gustavo Romero (Mexico) and Romel Gil (Venezuela) as a clear demonstration of the strengthening that Latinos give to the AMPP in its different chapters and collaborators.
Likewise, they emphasized the message that the association is giving to the international community by expressing with this formation of the Board that there are opportunities for integration to share experiences and knowledge.
The keynote speaker for the conference was four-time Super Bowl champion, quarterback and television personality Terry Bradshaw, with a speech titled “Why Not the Best?”
In addition, the conference featured an extensive educational program of technical symposiums, forums, workshops, student poster sessions, networking events, and a large exhibition of equipment, products, and services from more than 400 national and international companies.
The balance is highly positive and as a final reflection, the suggestion of some attendees is to continue studying, researching and improving to increase the number of scholarships and participants for the development of future research and products. Continue working for a healthier environment and improvements in practices and consolidation of production processes in order to control corrosion in all its environments.
