Hyperloop

Inspenet, August 14, 2023.

Germany is in the process of studying and testing the Hyperloop system conceived by Elon Musk in 2013, making significant progress in its implementation. This innovative form of transport could reach speeds of up to 800 km/h , presenting an ecological approach in its operation.

The mobility and transportation landscape is about to undergo a radical transformation. Trains could soon be in the past, as the revolutionary Hyperloop system is undergoing tests in Europe. This system would make it possible to travel the distance between Madrid and Paris in less than two hours using high-speed vacuum capsules.

How does Hyperloop work?

The Hyperloop, conceived by Elon Musk in 2013, is a high-speed land transportation concept that seeks extreme efficiency. His approach involves capsules or carriages moving through low-pressure or vacuum tubes, reaching extraordinarily high speeds.

The Hyperloop system consists of capsules that move inside vacuum tubes, with capacity for up to 30 people . These capsules float and propel themselves at an amazing speed of 800 km/h, taking advantage of solar panels for their operation, which makes it an ecological and economical alternative. Currently, this innovative system is already being tested in the city of Munich, Germany.

The initial conception of the idea, proposed by Space X, was released for development by any interested party (considering that Space X is currently focused on space tourism). Since then, numerous futuristic Hyperloop-type train projects have emerged driven by different actors.

At the University of Munich, a 24-meter section of vacuum tube, made of concrete and with a diameter of 4 meters, has been allocated to carry out full-scale tests with passengers. This section has been set up to study the behavior of the passenger capsule, with a boarding platform and a capacity of up to 5 passengers. The maiden voyage took place on July 10.

Tests in Europe have yielded satisfactory results

The tests have been successful, Autobild reports, and the transportation system has obtained official TUV certificates for passenger transportation. From now on, the team will focus on examining technical aspects such as levitation (achieved by opposing magnetic forces or repulsion of magnets) and the capsule’s behavior under vacuum conditions.

“As a fully functional segment of Hyperloop, our system allows us to specifically investigate the propulsion, the technical system of levitation and the behavior of the capsule in a vacuum, as well as the safety factors,” says Semino, project leader.

Magnetic levitation and the vacuum effect in the Hyperloop system eliminate any form of aerodynamic resistance or friction with the rails, making it possible to reach extraordinary speeds of up to 800 km/h. This technology is presented with the intention of radically transforming the transport industry, even in the European context.
