The establishment of the petrochemical plant will allow the production of fertilizers at affordable prices and will ensure access to natural gas for all Peruvian citizens.
According to Economy and Finance Minister Alex Contreras, three international companies have shown interest in investing in a petrochemical plant in Peru.
During her Message to the Nation on the occasion of the National Holidays, President Dina Boluarte announced the implementation of a petrochemical plant in the south of the country with the aim of producing low-cost fertilizers for farmers, while at the same time will guarantee the supply of natural gas to all Peruvians.
Petrochemical plant attracts potential investors
The president added that several interested companies “largest and most serious in the world” have already presented their work execution schedule, “to make this national desire a reality.”
“There is interest from three private companies in building petrochemical plants in the south of the country. The Ministry of Energy and Mines has already issued the Supreme Decree to promote the development of the petrochemical industry,” said the head of the MEF.
Contreras explained that within the request for powers delegated to Congress, the government seeks to issue concrete measures to improve conditions and promote investment in the country.
“A petrochemical plant that consumes and demands natural gas . This guarantees a significant demand for natural gas, with the subsequent positive effects. It would make it possible to massify gas in the south”, he commented.
The head of the Junín jirón office specified the following regarding three international companies: “one is Colombian, another is mixed capital, Chilean-Peruvian, it seems to me, and the other is an American company.”
“This will allow the massification of gas to be economically profitable, and that Peru can produce fertilizers, explosives. It’s an important strategy,” he said.
