The Chinese state oil company Sinopec, one of the largest companies in the Asian giant’s sector, drilled 8,937.77 meters in one of its oil fields, thus becoming the deepest onshore well in Asia.
The exploration was carried out in the Shunbei 84 inclined well, located in the Tarim Basin, belonging to the western region of Xinjiang, rich in oil and gas resources, it will reach a daily production capacity of more than 1,000 tons of oil, several reported today. local media.
The reports presented by Sinopec highlight that this vertical well is the twenty-second that will exceed the production of one thousand tons within the Shunbei oil and gas fields.
The oil company stated in a statement that “currently, seven wells capable of extracting a thousand tons have been explored and developed with broad prospects. The adjacent No. 4 zone will account for 73.6% of Shunbei’s total production in 2022.”
Sinopec has established four oil and natural gas fields in the Tarim Basin, as it is home to around 83% and 64% of the Asian giant’s oil and gas reserves, respectively, according to data published by local press.
Last August, the oil company discovered a 1.7 billion-ton oil field that reaches a depth of 7,300 meters, making it one of the deepest in the world.
