Australia-based company Airspeeder developed the Airspeeder Mk3, the world’s first flying electric racing vehicle, a prototype that lands and takes off vertically from a drone-like configuration.

It is designed with an aesthetic close to conventional racing cars, applying a stylized silhouette with elongated lines and an athletic concept in general, generating a sensation of a futuristic vehicle.

The flying car prototype was built from a carbon fiber monocoque structure that allows it to be very light with a total weight of 100 kilograms, resulting in an important advantage in its performance.

Its 100% electric propulsion system is made up of eight rotors that together generate a total power of 128 hp and can reach a top speed of up to 129 km/h. The model was designed to be operated from the cabin or remotely.

Airspeeder plans to hold a single-make championship this year in which to test several copies of the Mk3. In the event called EXA Racing Series, the flying cars will be piloted by remote control, counting on the fact that it is their first flights.

In addition, the versions that will compete will be more advanced and it is estimated that they will reach 435 hp of power, a top speed of 200 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds. At this stage, the batteries have reached an autonomy of 10 to 15 minutes.
