Ecolab, the world leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services; recognizes the importance of migrating to new ways to generate energy and optimizing existing ones for greater efficiency in the current and future market; the reduction in the consumption of resources such as water and in the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG).

In 2021, Ecolab helped customers save 45 trillion BTUs of energy and avoid 3.6 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, plus help generate more than 20 percent of the world’s energy and reduce water footprints and energy of 40 percent of world oil production.

“Greater emphasis on efficiency, innovation and technology have a major role in the evolution and transition of the global energy market. Whatever the method or source from which it is produced, the use of resources such as water must be as efficient as possible so that there is sustainability in it and the impact on the environment is reduced”, explains Esteban Guáqueta, marketing director from Ecolab’s industrial division.

The inauguration of the Mörknasscögen wind farm in Finland is expected this year; that it will produce 10 gigawatts/hour of energy annually to supply all Ecolab facilities in Europe; including 15 main offices, 26 operating centers and 7 research and development centers. When it begins operations, it will reduce potential GHG emissions by up to 20,900 tons and increase the company’s global supply of renewable energy to nearly 80%.
