Turkey has ordered the reactivation of crude flows to the Ceyhan export terminal on the Mediterranean coast, according to an official with direct knowledge of the matter, according to Bloomberg.

State oil pipeline operator Botas had cut off the flow of raw material to the facility as a precaution after the first of two major earthquakes to hit the region.

The checks have been completed and flows and exports from Ceyhan will begin shortly, said this source, who asked not to be named due to the sensitive nature of the matter.

The port exported more than 1 million barrels a day in January, that is, 1% of the world supply, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Monday’s 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes killed thousands in Turkey and Syria. Emergency teams are working around the clock to rescue victims trapped in the rubble after two powerful earthquakes that shook ten Turkish cities.

The confirmed death toll in Turkey and neighboring Syria now exceeds 4,000, while more than 11,000 buildings have been damaged by tremors, leaving many people trapped inside in sub-zero temperatures.
