Adani, Ballard and Ashok develop innovative hydrogen truck for mining

Adani Enterprises Limited – AEL (India), Ballard Power Systems (Canada) and Ashok Leyland (India) have partnered to develop a Fuel Cell Electric Truck (FCET) for use in the mining industry and even for the logistics sector.

For AEL it is a pioneering and ambitious green hydrogen project for the future energy self-sufficiency of India. In addition, the company is accelerating the use of hydrogen-powered fuel cell technology in the commercial transportation system.

According to the companies, the truck would weigh 55 tons; It would have three hydrogen tanks and a working range of 200 km. Also, it would be powered by Ballard’s 120kW PEM fuel cell technology, as well as the FCmove fuel cell engine. While, Ashok Leyland will provide the vehicle platform and technical support.

The partners plan to launch the FCET in India this year.
