As part of the Fully Charged Live event, held in San Diego, USA, the company Aptera Motors officially presented the complete prototype of the gamma version of its next solar electric vehicle (SEV).
The Gamma is the company’s last vehicle before moving to production-intent prototype, with customer-facing models slated to enter production in 2023.
Aptera claims to have more than 32,000 reservations, of which almost a third have occurred in the last few months. The company will build the vehicle at its new facility in Carlsbad, California.
Having completed all but the crash testing phases, the company is now working on the production vehicle, the Delta version, which it plans to have ready and show by the end of the year. The goal is to start production sometime in 2023, and presumably the first customer deliveries will take place that same year.
On its website, Aptera claims that it starts at $25,900 and has a battery range of up to 1,000 miles and 40 miles of range thanks to onboard solar technology, which for many people could mean never having to spend time at a charging station.
