Existing fossil fuel reserves will emit more than 3.5 trillion tons of carbon dioxide, according to a register created by the organizations Carbon Tracker and Global Energy Monitor, which was published this week.

The registry, cited by Reuters, contains data from more than 50,000 oil, gas and coal deposits in 89 countries, representing 75% of world reserves, production and emissions.

The authors indicated that the potential volume of emissions exceeds several times the capacity of carbon that can be emitted before the Earth reaches a certain point of warming. For specialists, this mark is 1.5 degrees Celsius as established in the Paris Agreement, collects AP.
