The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) donated 342 photovoltaic panels for families affected by weather phenomena in four provinces in central Cuba.
The equipment -with two kilowatts of power- is distributed in the provinces of Camagüey, Ciego Ávila, Sancti Spíritus and Villa Clara, affected in 2017 by the passage of Hurricane Irma, mainly in the northern municipalities, where there are families who do not have electricity. by any means of the National Electroenergetic System, according to Prensa Latina (PL).
The donation focuses specifically on vulnerable families, whose homes have unfavorable construction conditions, Juan Carlos Lacaba, main specialist of the Renewable Energy Sources Business Unit, attached to the Camagüey Electric Company, told PL.
According to the note, 109 of the donated panels have already been installed in Camagüey, in coastal towns of the Nuevitas, Sierra de Cubitas, Minas and Esmeralda municipalities.
According to the source itself, these are modern panels that resist inductive loads, have motors with a rotating process and great autonomy due to their battery, which allows them to charge, even if the day is cloudy.
