NG Energy International Corp. announced that in the development of the Sinu-9 exploration and production contract and under the agreements with CleanEnergy Resources, the drilling of the Brujo-1x well was successful and a large natural gas reserve was found.
According to NG Energy, drilling was carried out to a final total depth of 8,019 feet (7,200 feet true vertical depth) in the Lower Magdalena basin, located within Block SN-9, encountering 680 feet of net gas zone in the Ciénaga de Oro formation and 103 feet in the Porquero formation, for a total of 783 feet of net gas production zone.
This finding could become one of the five largest natural gas discoveries in the history of Colombia, sources told Valora Analitik.
Starting this week, the company will begin testing seven zones within the Brujo-1x well. Several drill stem tests (DST) will be performed to define the location to complete the well with the goal of achieving the highest possible stable production.
Once this analysis is complete, the company intends to continue drilling the Hechicero exploratory well from the same platform as the Brujo-1x well. The Hechicero exploration well has already received approval from the National Hydrocarbons Agency.
