The Puerto Rico Energy Bureau approved on Saturday a Resolution and Order in which a total of nine solar energy projects that were presented and have been managed in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan and the Energy Public Policy are approved for the Electric Power Authority .

Similarly, the extension of two weeks requested to complete the evaluation of five additional projects for which the public corporation has expressed that it is waiting for additional information required to formalize the established contracts was granted.

In total, the 14 projects subject to this determination must handle a capacity of 795.91 megawatts. According to the president of the regulatory body, Edison Avilés Deliz, this determination “goes hand in hand with the plans established to strengthen the timely and adequate integration of the energy resources that we want and will make available to each resident of the Island in the near future. ”.

Recalling that “the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau is the independent and specialized entity created by Law 57-2014, as amended, to serve as a key component for the full and transparent execution of the Energy Reform” Avilés Deliz mentioned that the Resolution and Order “also expresses the reasons why an extension request was denied in which the Electric Power Authority (PREPA) intended to wait for an additional study to be prepared by LUMA on two (2) additional projects.”

This material from the Strategic Energy portal was edited for clarity, style and length.
