AMLO and John Kerry met this week to discuss investments from the United States, the energy transition and new energies in Mexico.
During the fourth meeting of the person in charge of climate change of the Government of the United States, John Kerry with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the United States and Mexico agreed on the urgency of accelerating the energy transition in our country.
Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard explained at the end of the bilateral meeting that the United States seeks a greater Mexican commitment to climate change.
According to Ebrard, the United States has an ally in Mexico to accelerate actions to stop this problem, despite the fact that the energy policy of the current administration says the opposite.
For his part, John Kerry said that US companies that have invested in the energy sector in Mexico have the confidence to work in the country.
This, after the multiple meetings that North American businessmen and Ambassador Ken Salazar have had with the president of Mexico to discuss the issue of energy investments in our country.
The foreign minister stressed that in Mexico there is certainty for US companies to invest in the energy sector, despite the regulatory obstacles faced by national and foreign companies that participate in the different links of the chain.
“Of course, yes, that’s why he received all the companies, reviewed each case, we spent almost a week and a half here, with Ken Salazar too, and of course, what is investment in good faith, which brings Mexico technology and people that we are interested in having you here, of course you are welcome”.
Ebrard announced that this Friday, at the Virtual Climate Summit, President López Obrador will expose 10 points, including accelerating or growing solar energy by the CFE and working together with the private sector for that purpose, being able to have electro mobility of Mexico, capture methane gas, complete the Sembrando Vida program as planned.
