PetroPerú announced the start of the startup of the New Talara Refinery scheduled for next April 12, 2022. Its construction process is in its final stretch, registering a progress close to 98%; while the start will be safe, gradual and progressive.
The new and modern refinery complex has a Risk Management System, guaranteeing a safe operation at the level of the best refineries in the world. The start-up of the new plant will be safe, gradual and progressive, as the installation, testing, interconnections and systems required for the commissioning of 7,000 pieces of equipment and 35,000 instruments involved in this complex process progress. Therefore, the stabilization of the new refinery will involve a minimum period of six months.
Simultaneously, in line with its preventive safety culture, the Company has implemented more than 30 specific emergency response plans for each plant that makes up the new refining complex; which have been reviewed and audited by international specialists. The New Talara refinery is made up of 16 process units and 5 auxiliary units.
It also has a contingency plan for cases of spillage of hydrocarbons and other harmful substances into the sea, approved by the National Maritime Authority. In addition, the new refinery boasts modern equipment and facilities, with state-of-the-art technology, thus guaranteeing a safe and reliable operation for workers and the community.
