Amprius Technologies has sealed an alliance with Nanotech Energy to manufacture silicon anode battery cells in the United States. This collaboration represents a tangible step forward in the consolidation of a domestic supply chain for high-performance energy technologies.
Partnership with strategic focus
The partnership with Nanotech EnergyCalifornia-based company specializing in lithium-ion lithium-ion cellswill enable the production of Amprius SA128 batteries to be scaled up. These cells, which reach an energy density of 320 Wh/kg in 21700 cylindrical format, are designed for demanding defense and aerospace applications.
In addition to its technical capabilities, the alliance meets the requirements of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), strengthening Amprius’ position against sensitive contracts that demand domestic production.
Silicon anode batteries for strategic sectors
The collaboration has been positively received by key customers such as L3Harris Technologies, a major player in the defense sector. Production in the U.S. not only ensures greater control over critical components, but also responds to the growing demand for advanced cells for homeland security projects.
