Kuwait Oil Company has awarded SLB a five-year integrated development contract to advance the next phase of the Mutrib field. Mutriba fieldfield, one of the country’s most technically complex assets.
With an estimated investment of US$1.5 billion, the Kuwaiti operator has placed its trust in SLB (Schlumberger) to lead the design, development and management of production in high-pressure, high-temperature and sour gas conditions. This contract consolidates a decades-long relationship between the two companies.
Scope of the contract in the Mutriba field
Planning focuses on exploration and production in deeper zones of the reservoir, where geotechnical complexity demands state-of-the-art technology. SLB will provide integrated solutions that include subsurface modeling, well execution and resource optimization, under a scheme that prioritizes capital efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The project reflects a growing trend in the region toward integrated models that better spread operational risk. SLB’s approach aligns with KOC’s objectives to accelerate production in remote areas. production in remote and technically challenging and technically challenging areas, while reducing overall development costs.
