Kobrea Exploration Corp. has identified a 1,250 by 500 meter hydrothermal breccia body at the KBX-17 target, located within their Western Malargüe Copper Projectsin the province of Mendoza. This discovery reinforces the company’s thesis of the presence of a deep porphyry system and revaluates the exploration potential of the region.
The discovery followed a geological mapping and systematic sampling program, where breccias cemented with iron oxides and zones preserved with massive pyrite were identified. In samples close to the main body, copper contents of up to 1.6% were found in the dioritic intrusive rock that acts as the host unit.
Characteristics of the hydrothermal breccia at KBX-17
The KBX-17 target was initially observed by a color anomaly visible from a vehicular road in March 2025. Subsequently, the area was the subject of detailed surveys that delineated the extensive orebody. Samples revealed an anomalous copper distribution between 161 ppm and 408 ppm in leached breccia fragments, with structures evidencing vertical zonation.
The breccia intrudes an equigranular diorite stock of approximately 4 by 2 kilometers, which in turn cuts through Jurassic sediments of the Tordillo Formation. Other smaller breccias were also located, including one cemented with magnetite which yielded values of up to 223 ppm copper.
Work plan and technical validation
Kobrea plans to apply an induced polarization survey over KBX-17 to evaluate the existence of an underlying porphyritic system. In the meantime, the exploration team will continue to advance on the different prospects in the district, including zones such as El Perdido and El Destino.
All analytical procedures were performed by Alex Stewart International in Mendoza, under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards. Quality control included ICP-OES analysis and fire assay for gold.
Strategic outlook for Kobrea
With rights to over 733 km² in southwestern Mendoza, the company believes that these projects contain the potential to host several porphyry copper-gold systems. porphyry copper and copper-gold systems.. The detection of KBX-17, with no previous references in historical records or previous drilling, positions Kobrea with a significant advantage in an underexplored district.
