OSRL 2025 served as a meeting point for the international oil spill preparedness and response community. The Technical Forum and Annual General Meeting, held in The Woodlands, Texas, brought together representatives from energy companies, technical networks and the organization's governing bodies in a space designed to share knowledge and strengthen operational coordination.
From an institutional perspective, the event focused on the importance of maintaining aligned and updated capabilities in a context marked by increasingly complex and demanding operations.
The Technical Forum is part of Oil Spill Response Limited strategic calendar and fulfills a defined function within the organization. It is a place to review technical developments, share recent learnings and discuss the capabilities available to respond to incidents in different operating environments.
In the OSRL 2025 edition, this approach allowed to strengthen the dialogue between operators and specialists, with particular attention to the challenges associated with subsea response and the need for real scenario-based preparedness.
One of the clearest messages from the event was the high level of involvement of the industry community. The presence of Board of Directors members, technical leaders and representatives of specialized companies evidenced a shared commitment to the continuous improvement of spill preparedness.
The meeting also facilitated direct exchanges between the different actors involved in the response, favoring a practical approach aligned with the real needs of the industry.
The spill preparedness was one of the main themes that ran through the entire content of the forum. Throughout the event, the idea was reinforced that the effectiveness of a response depends to a large extent on previous work, detailed planning and coordination between teams and organizations.
This approach was based on a review of exercises, recent experiences and technical capabilities that reduce response times and improve decision making in critical situations.
In this context, the Global Subsea Response Network (GSRN) was presented as a key element to strengthen the collective response. The network brings together specialized companies that provide complementary technical capabilities, enabling a more robust and coordinated response to complex scenarios.
The GSRN exhibition during the event facilitated direct exchange between operators and suppliers, reinforcing a vision based on technical cooperation and the joint use of resources and experience.
During the Annual General Meeting, OSRL members received information on the performance of the organization and the strategic lines planned for the future. In this context, OSRL CEO Vania De Stefani thanked the participants and highlighted the value of the collective commitment shown during the event.
The meeting served to reinforce a shared vision aimed at maintaining and improving the organization's technical capabilities in the coming years.
OSRL 2025 made it clear that spill preparedness remains a shared challenge that requires coordination, planning and technical cooperation. The event reaffirmed OSRL's role as a meeting platform for the industry and as a space for building collective responses to increasingly complex scenarios.
