The new C-Flexer class shines with a high degree of adaptability, being equipped with an optimized hull, multi-fuel engines and a scalable diesel-battery hybrid system, the vessels have been conceived to evolve towards all-electric operations in the future.

The vessels will be built at the China Merchants Industry(CMI) shipyard in Weihai, consolidating a more than decade-long partnership between Stena RoRo and the Asian shipbuilder. That partnership has resulted in the production of 17 vessels, including the renowned E-Flexer and NewMax classes.

Per Westling, CEO of Stena RoRo, mentioned that this cooperation has been instrumental in maintaining quality standards and on-time delivery for bothStena Line itself and third party customers in the global market.

The first two C-Flexer will be delivered in March and June 2029 respectively, while additional optional units could follow every three months. The four-deck version of these vessels will reach 4,750 linear meters of rail, with dimensions of 200 meters in length and 31 meters in beam.

NAOS has been strategically involved in the development of this new series of freighters. With more than 30 years of experience, the Italian firm is leading innovation initiatives in the design of RoRo y RoPaxvessels, with a presence in several European countries. This technical synergy reinforces Stena RoRo’s focus on offering customized solutions under the “Stenability” concept.

Since its inception in 1977, the Swedish company has evolved into an integrated model combining leasing, design and production of vessels adapted to the operational requirements of the global market.
