The CMA CGM MONTE CRISTO was built by the DSIC shipyard in Tianjin, and has a maximum capacity of 16,204 TEU, including about 1,000 reefer containers. With a length of 366 meters and a beam of 51 meters, she will sail under the Maltese flag and will be under the command of Captain Predrag Vojvodic. In addition, its commercial deployment is scheduled for January 29, 2026, within the BEX2 – Phoenician Express service, connecting ports in North Asia, the Levant and the Adriatic Sea.

The CMA CGM MONTE CRISTO is the eleventh methanol-powered container vessel to join the CMA CGM fleet. The company has ordered a total of 24 vessels with this technology as part of its energy transition, which envisages the operation of 200 dual-fuel vessels (LNG and methanol) (LNG and methanol) by 2031. This initiative aligns with the group’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The delivery of this vessel enhances CMA CGM’s strategy based on asset ownership and the integration of cleaner propulsion technologies. The firm continues to invest in sustainable solutions for its global maritime, land and air network, thus consolidating its positioning in the logistics chain with lower environmental impact.

The official naming ceremony was held on January 21, 2026 in Tianjin. Liu Liping, deputy general manager of EPPEN BIOTECH, was the ship’s godmother, highlighting cross-industry collaboration around cleaner solutions for international transportation.
