During 2025, Petrobras achieved an unprecedented performance by surpassing the upper limit of the production targets established in its 2025-2029 Business Plan. The Brazilian state-owned company produced an average of 2.40 million barrels of oil per day (bpd), representing an 11% growth compared to 2024 and 0.5 percentage points above the projected ceiling (+4%).
Overall, the company’s total oil and natural gas production reached 2.99 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (bpd). This figure not only represents a year-on-year increase of 11%, but also exceeded the upper range of its corporate target by 2.8 percentage points, marking a milestone in its operating history.
Pre-salt leads Petrobras energy production
The pre-salt‘s performance was decisive, accounting for 82% of total production. In this region, Petrobras reached a total production of 2.45 million barrels of oil equivalent per day and an operated production of 3.70 million, both new annual records.
Among the most outstanding fields is Búzios, which reached 1 million barrels per day with only six platforms. The FPSO Almirante Tamandaré platform, located in the same field, became the country’s largest producer, averaging 240 thousand bpd in November and December. Its operational success is complemented by the incorporation of new units such as the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão, in the Mero field, and others in Jubarte, Marlim and Voador.
Increased operational efficiency and new platforms
One of the key factors behind these results was the increase in the operating efficiency of all units. During the year, Petrobras started up five new FPSOs, including P-78, which began operating on December 31 and is expected to play a relevant role in the sustained growth of production in the coming years.
Commercial production, i.e. the volume actually sold, was 2.62 million bped, 0.9 percentage points above the projected maximum target.
Commitment to safety and sustainability
Petrobras attributed these achievements to the joint efforts of its technical team, highlighting its commitment to operational safety, respect for the environment and the reliability of its assets. These priorities, combined with an efficient management of its resources, have allowed Petrobras to consolidate its position as one of the most relevant players in the global energy sector.
With a year of outstanding results, Petrobras enters 2026 with solid growth prospects, maintaining its focus on pre-salt exploration, production efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
