SBM Offshore secures operation of FPSO Mondo and Saxi Batuque in Angola until 2032

Activities will include equipment renewal, technical improvements and assurance of operating standards.

SBM Offshore has confirmed the contract extension for the Mondo and Saxi Batuque FPSOs, operating in Block 15 offshore Angola. The contract extension, signed with Esso Exploration Angola, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, extends SBM Offshore’s presence and operation in the African country until 2032.

With this agreement, SBM Offshore maintains the management of these offshore platforms, and is committed to carry out life extension activities. Operations will include equipment refurbishment, technical improvements and assurance of operating standards to guarantee the continuity of hydrocarbon production in safe conditions.

Renovation work is scheduled to begin in 2026, ensuring asset integrity and deepwater operational capability throughout the new contract period. Such a transaction reflects ExxonMobil’ s confidence in SBM Offshore’s technical expertise to handle complex infrastructure in demanding projects.

Block 15 is one of the strategic points for offshore oil production in Angola. Under the operation of Esso Exploration Angola, and with the participation of companies such as Azule Angola, Equinor and Sonangol, the area remains for the region’s energy supply. The continuity of FPSO Mondo and Saxi Batuque will allow sustaining the levels of production and local employment associated with this activity.
